Cancer-free

Happy 04

By Sheryl Jedlinski

“I have great news for you,” my surgeon announced as she rushed into the exam room clutching my latest test results. “You are cancer-free.”

I could hardly believe I heard her right, even though this was what we were aiming for all along. It was nothing short of a miracle. After all, when I met her, I had stage 4 endometrial cancer that had spread to several different sites in my body. What she had expected to be a four-hour surgery turned into eight as she carefully checked under every flap of skin and cut out whatever cancer celIs were hiding there. I suspect that had I had a less gifted and motivated surgeon, I would not be telling this story today.

Feeling like I have been given a second chance on life, I am more committed than ever to making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of others struggling with incurable diseases. To all of you who kept me in your thoughts and prayers, and spent countless hours convincing me that I was going to be okay, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If wealth were measured by the number of friends we have, I would surely be a millionaire.

“If you want to see how rich you are, then don’t count your money. Just drop a tear from your eyes and see how many hands come to hold it.” Unknown

My strength comes from the many friends (Including you) and relatives fighting beside me. My thanks to one and all.
